Societies and Clubs

University is about more than just lectures, labs, and late-night study sessions. During your time at UBC, you will have many opportunities to meet people from all over the world and experience new things. You can build a solar car with friends, visit Silicon Valley on a field trip with other students and influence your learning environment by participating in student societies and clubs.

Electrical and Computer Engineering Student Society (ECESS)

The ECESS is a student organization for all undergraduate Electrical and Computer Engineering students at UBC. With over 900 undergraduate students in the department, ECESS is the largest of all engineering departmental clubs. Through the hard work of the ECESS council and student volunteers, their goal is to provide ECE students with a better environment to learn and gain life long skills. We encourage all of our ECE undergraduate students to get involved!

Electrical and Computer Engineering Graduate Student Association (ECEGSA)

The ECEGSA is the association of all Graduate students in the ECE Department at UBC. Every graduate student in ECE is automatically a member, and the ECEGSA Executive organizes activities and services for the benefit of all graduate students. These include orientations for new students, a weekly Afternoon Social Break, an Industry/Student Networking Night, and many other workshops and events. The ECEGSA welcomes all ECE Graduate students to participate in its events, which are announced via email and on the ECEGSA website.

Women in Engineering

Are you a female engineering student at UBC or thinking about engineering as a future career?  If so, you’ve landed in the right place!

The Women in Engineering (WIE) program was established to support you and your peers during your academic term at UBC. We hope that, through our programs and events, you are able to connect and network with other female engineering students and faculty members to build mentoring relationships, social and study groups, professional networks, and perhaps even life-long friendships.
