Siamak Najarian received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Oxford University in the UK. He is a retired university professor at the rank of Full-Professor. He has taught various courses at undergraduate and graduate levels both in Canada and other countries. He also used to work as a faculty member at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. Currently, Dr. Najarian teaches at two departments at UBC, i.e., the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering. His main expertise is in translational research (Biomechatronics, Engineering Design and Analysis, Biomedical Imaging Modalities, Biotransport Phenomena, Biosensors, and Biomechanics). More than 200 graduate and undergraduate engineering theses have been completed under his supervision. Dr. Najarian has authored and co-authored 35 books and published 130 journal papers in various scientific journals.
