Mabo R Ito received the B.Sc (Eng. Phys) and M.Sc (EE) from the University of Manitoba in 1960 and 1963, respectively, and the PhD degree from the University of British Columbia in 1971. He joined the department in 1973. He is now a Professor Emeritus and continues his research activities in the department. Prior to joining the Department he was a Research Officer with the National Research Council in Ottawa from 1962 to 1966 and from 1970 to 1973. He has also been active as a consultant to a number of industries. He was President of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC during 2005 to 2006 and a member of the Board of Directors of Engineers Canada from 2007 to 2010.
