Three Minute Thesis Competition (3MT)

March 4, 2019 - 11:00 - 16:00

We would like to invite you to participate in UBC's 2019 Three Minute Thesis Competition (3MT). The basic idea is that you explain the breadth and significance of your research project to a non-specialist audience. Information from G+PS can be found at

The winners from the EECE department heat will go on to participate in the university-wide semi-finals competition.

In order to participate, please send an email to help [at] ece [dot] ubc [dot] ca with the subject line "3MT - YOUR NAME" indicating your program of study (MASC or PhD), and your student number by February 25, 2019.

The departmental competition will take place on Monday March 4, 2019 at 11am in MCLD 418. You are allowed to use a single slide, which you will be required to submit to us no later than 12pm on Friday March 1, 2019. You can bring all your friends and lab mates for support!

We encourage participants to attend the presentation skills workshops offered by G+PS. More information, visit

We hope that many of you will participate. The required effort should be very small (you will talk about the things you talk about everyday anyway), it should be fun, and there are prizes to be won!

If you have any questions, please email help [at] ece [dot] ubc [dot] ca.
