MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN PREVIOUS IEEE POSITIONS:
1. Played a major role in establishing the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and the IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC).
2. While serving as President of the IEEE Information Theory Society, worked on the establishment of Shannon Park in Gaylord Michigan, the town where Claude Shannon spend the first sixteen years of his life. A statue commissioned by the Society was presented to the city. It was unveiled on October 6, 2000. Shannon, the father of Information Theory is one of the people most responsible for ushering in the digital age.
3. While serving as VP RAB (now MGA), worked with the board to develop Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) to help young professionals to transition from being a student to entering the professional world.
4. Assisted IEEE Presidents Troy Nagle and Thomas Cain in negotiating sister society agreements in India, Japan and Russia.
5. While serving as Director of Region 7, initiated negotiations that lead to the creation of IEEE Canada and to bring the Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Canadian Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering into IEEE umbrella.
