Available Council Positions

Want to be one of these happy people?
Joining ECE Council is a great way to have fun, make friends, gain leadership experience, and help your fellow ECE students.
The following Executive positions are vacant on the ECE Student Society:
Secretary - Record minutes of all meetings
Publicity Rep - Organize publicity for all social, academic, and professional events held by the Student Society
Second Year LIP Rep - Act as a liaison between ECE students in their year and the council and ensure that students in their year are informed of council activities
Second Year PIP Rep - Act as a liaison between ECE students in their year and the council and ensure that students in their year are informed of council activities
An election for Executive positions will be held September 16th. If you would like to run for one of these positions, please collect a nomination form from the council office once classes begin, have your nomination form signed by ten ECE students, and submit the form to the council office by September 15th.
The following Ex-Officio positions are also vacant:
Photographer/Slipstick Editor - Take photos at all ECE events and organize photos for and design the ECE slipstick pages
Facilities Manager - Maintain the facilities and equipment in the ECE Student lounge, ECE Council office, and ECE dining hall and oversee locker sales
Merchandise Manager - Maintain and perform inventory on ECE merchandise stock for the vending machine and ECE paraphenalia (clothing, patches, etc.)
Ex-Officio positions are not elected, To apply for one of these positions, please collect a nomination form from the council office once classes begin, have your nomination form signed by ten ECE students, and submit the form to the council office by September 15th.
We can also always use assistants for most positions and other volunteers, so please don't hesitate to speak to us if you'd like to help out. If you have any questions, please come to our office in 434 MacLeod once classes begin or email us at studentsociety@ece.ubc.ca.
Engineering Week Results: ECE Dept takes 2nd place!

Thanks to everyone's hard work and participation during engineering week, the ECE department won second place out of all the other engineering departments! Some of the highlights and our success through the week includes:
Opening ceremonies: 1st place
E-team event: 3rd place
Foosball Tournament: 2nd place out of 52 teams
Games night: 2nd place
2nd place in Starcraft, 1st place in Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart
True Engineer design competition: 3rd place
Ball Model design project: 3rd place
ECE FilmfEUSt submission: 2nd place
Thanks again to everyone who helped out in the events and joined us for the competitions, especially on Games Night! Hopefully we can come in first place next year and be the top department in all of engineering!
ECE Department T-shirts are here! $15

The new ECE Department T-shirts are now available and on sale! the T shirt design can be seen on the ECE Student Society website at. The shirts are available in both male and female sizes and the price will be $15 per shirt! Please visit the ECESS office at Mcld 434 today to pick up your own ECE shirt!
Also, to celebrate our department's success as the second best engineering department in UBC, the UBC IEEE Student Branch has offered to cover $5 off the first 40 shirts sold starting at Tuesday, February 9th, at noon so get one soon before they run out!
