William Gallego
Hi everyone, my name is William Gallego and I'm running for ECE President. I've been a part of ECE Council for the past two years, serving as a general volunteer, seeing what ECE Council does for ECE students and the tremendous steps it's taken to be a more effective student society.
As ECE President, I promise to do everything I can to provide the best undergraduate experience to all ECE Students. Taking a reduced course load next year, I'll be able to spend all the time necessary to be an effective president of the ECE student society, going to and setting up all of the necessary meetings, and supporting/directing all of the exec's/volunteers in everything they are involved in. This ranges from tutoring courses, to running successful social events, to maintaining and enhancing our amazing lounge.
There's a lot that the ECE Student Society does, and I've already done all of it. From handling locker sales, Iron Ring Fees, stocking the vending machines, ECE does a lot that needs to be managed and maintained, and I have the experience to manage it all.
As the VP Communications & Administration for the Engineering Undergraduate Society for the past two years, I handled a $50,000 budget per year, and was in charge of 12 volunteers with varying levels of responsibilities and commitment. From creating the Handbuk (engineering agenda), sending out a weekly e-mail (e-nEUS) to all engineering students, and working with alumni, faculty, and students, this position has given me all of the experience I need to be an effective leader of the ECE Student Society.
I encourage every ECE student to get involved with the elections; to learn more about my campaign and ask any questions, join my facebook event.
Cheers,
Will

Hassene Tmar (term 1) & Jian Liew (term 2)
Hey everyone!
We are running for ECE Vice president. For those who don't know us, we have been actively helping out the ECE council for the past 2 years. Between us we share three years of experience in the ECE council already.
Jian Liew: I have been in the ECE council for 2 years playing the role as your Social Coordinator and Slipstick Representative. As Slipstick(Yearbook) Rep I helped design the pages for our yearbook. I've organized the major events that ECE has held for you such as Welcome Back BBQ, Games Nights, Ohmcoming, and many others. I have a lot of experience when it comes to the Student council which includes responsibilities such as Locker Sales, Iron Ring, and Vending. I'm a very approachable person and love to hear out how we can improve our student society.
Hassene Tmar: I have been a council member for the last term and my position at the current council is E-Week Representative. Regardless of the short experience with council, I have quickly picked up how the system works within the ECESS and I think that my adaptability and creativity will compliment Jian's experience and contribute to a very successful year for the ECESS. I love networking and I am very excited to have the opportunity to be an effective member within the ECE student council.
As Vice President, we plan on upholding the responsibilities of the Execs and have more involvement in helping the Students. Our main goal is to assist and support the president to do the best job possible and to stop him from going insane with stress or POWER!!
So come talk to us if you have any question or especially any suggestions about what you would like to see in ECE next year!!

Fourth Year (Grad) Rep Candidates
Megan Sun
Hi everyone! My name is Megan and I'm running for 4th year/ grad rep for 2011/2012. My responsibilities as your 4th year representative would be to set up appointments for the grad photos, collect money and ring sizes for the Iron Ring Ceremony, plan an AWESOME grad trip for all the 4th years and most importantly, be a great and informative 4th year rep!
I have plenty of experience including being the current President of Alpha Omega Epsilon Engineering Sorority and being an EUS councillor. These positions require a lot of responsibility and I am really involved within the UBC Engineering community. I am dedicated, organized and take my responsibilities very seriously.
I am extremely excited to be running for this position because I want to provide all the 4th year students with an opportunity to really enjoy their last year at UBC. This includes working to provide more tutorials and exam material for our 4th year classes and making sure students voices are heard. But of course we also need to enjoy our last year by having lots of FUN. I will try to keep you all informed of both the academic and social engineering events on campus (especially the ones with free food!!) and plan an amazing grad trip that helps us get to know each other better.
Please come out on March 24th from 9am to 4pm to vote for all the amazing candidates running this year. Remember to make informed votes by reading up on the candidates at www.ece.ubc.ca/~studentsociety.

Lawrence Penkar
Hi all,
I am running for the position of 4th year representative with the EECE undergraduate club for the upcoming academic year, 2011 -2012.
As part of the existing responsibilities, I will be responsible on your behalf to set up appointments to convene your experience for grad pictures, iron ring ceremony and the annual trip for the graduating class.
In addition, this year, I plan on working more closely than in previous years with theTreasurer and Academic Rep to find a good balance between study and play in the 4th year. Be it extra tutorials for 4th yr courses or a more socially balanced environment during exams.
As many of you'll who have studied with me know, I am passionate and vocal about the existing flaws in the system and changing those.
To add on to my military experience, I have worked with many non-profit organizations both on and off campus.
I not only know to organize events and voice concerns at the right time to the right people, but I also know how to get things done. Moreover, I am always open to listening and have a good chat. I will make your feedback important and be heard.
On March 24th, from 9am to 4pm come vote for the candidates running this year. Please, make informed votes by reading up on the candidates at www.ece.ubc.ca/~studentsociety.
Feel free to contact me via facebook or email (lawpenkar@gmail.com), if you have any concerns.
Help me to help you.
