December 2004, Teaching Assistantship, Department of
Anthropology, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada. I
am the TA for a third-year Anthropology course (ANTH 360) called
Introduction to Ecological Anthropology. In this course I logged 192 TA
hours in which I performed a variety of tasks as the liason between the
professor and the students. I am responsible for the maintenance of the
WebCT course page (posting of course material, relevant articles to
couse, and emails). I am responsible for two classes this term while
the professor was away: a lecture and the weekly tutorial. I grade the
midterm papers, assignments, the final exam, and attended classes as
part of my TA duties. I maintain weekly office hours. Professor: Dr.

areas
of interest: June 2004-, Research Group
Student Member,Technology Enhanced Model Based Science (TEMBS) group, Department of Education, University of British
Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada. We are interested in how people learn and how people can teach with digital technologies. Our current research
activities include a technology-enhanced, model based learning research project with BC science teachers. September 2003-, Research Lab
Student Member,Human Communications Technologies Laboratory. University of
British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada. Conducting research that uses
information technology to realise how to communicate effectively and
understand human experience. Research encompasses the areas of ubiquitous
computing, ambient intelligence, human computer
interaction. October 1999-July 2000, DAAD Scholarship research
assistant,
GMD FIT (now Fraunhofer FIT), Schloss Birlinghoven, June-September 1999, Student research assistant, Advanced
Communications Technology Centre, BT Adastral Park
(now BTexact), Martlesham
Heath, Ipswich, U.K. Primary researcher for usability trials of a networked
internal virtual world project called Forum Contact Space. Evaluation study consisted of 35 participants (26
active) using one on one interviews, a focus group, a two-week video diary and
vpersonal diaries to gather feedback of user opinion. The goal of the
study was
to examine if the Contact Space reproduces chance encounters that normally
occur within the workplace such as around the coffee machine. Research
encompasses the areas of CSCW, CVEs, social
conventions, and avatars. Advisor: Andrew McGrath. August 1997-July 1998, Student research assistant, Institute
for Applied Information Technology (FIT), Accepted
