Electromechanical Devices Laboratory

Room: Mcleod 130

This laboratory has twelve identical benches and can accommodate up to 24 students at a given time.

Lab Bench

Each lab bench is equipped to perform a number of related laboratory experiments and tests.

Data ACQUISITION

Each lab bench is equipped with PC-based real-time data acquisition system that allows to simultaneously measure, display, and record up to 3 voltages, 3 currents, speed, and torque.

experiments

linear solenoid

In this experiment students analyze basic principles of electromechanical energy conversion using a linear solenoid.

transformer

In this experiment students analyze low-voltage two-winding transformer.

brushed dc machines

In this experiment students analyze HP 48 V permanent magnet brushed DC machine.

Induction machines

In this experiment students analyze HP squirrel-cage induction machine.

synchronous machines

In this experiment students analyze car alternator, which is a claw-pole synchronous machine.

brushless dc machines

In this experiment students analyze permanent magnet synchronous machine and operate it together with three-phase inverter, which makes a brushless dc machine.

stepper motors

In this experiment students analyze a permanent magnet stepper motor.
