Henry C. B. Chan

Henry Chan received the BA and MA degrees from the University of Cambridge, England in 1988 and 1992, respectively and the PhD degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada in 1997. He is also studying for the MBA degree (by distance learning) of the Heriot-Watt University, England. During his graduate studies at UBC, he was awarded a NSERC Scholarship from the Government of Canada, an UBC Graduate Fellowship and a BC TEL Graduate Scholarship.
He has diverse working experience (research, teaching, product development and engineering) in networking and telecommunications. Between 1988 and 1993, he worked with HongKong Telecom primarily on the development of data communication services in Hong Kong. From 1989 to 1993, he was also a visiting evening lecturer at the Hong Kong Polytechnic (now known as the Hong Kong Polytechnic University). During his graduate studies, he was a research and teaching assistant in the communication research group of UBC. He is now working with BC Tel Advanced Communications on the development of high speed networking technologies and ATM-based services. He is also a part-time post-doctoral research fellow at UBC. His research interests include high-speed networks, Internet technologies and wireless ATM.
Dr. Chan is a member of IEEE, a member of ACM and a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He was the winner of the IEE (HK) Younger Member Paper Contest in 1992.
