A wide-band, electro-optic Mach-Zehnder modulator, using slow-wave coplanar waveguide, travelling-wave electrodes, has been fabricated on an AlGaAs/GaAs substrate. The microwave loss, the microwave index, and the characteristic impedance of the electrodes were measured up to 40 GHz. The loss and the microwave index were 0.5 Np/cm and 3.6 at 40 GHz, respectively. Optical measurements were done up to 20 GHz and exhibited no significant drop in modulation
