As an engineer, everyday, you will combine your strong mathematical and scientific capabilities with your curiosity about the world around you and how it works. Whether you're assembling robots or designing software, envisioning the means for environmental protections or finding new ways to communicate with people in the most remote regions of the world; through engineering you can serve the world in which you live.
UBC attracts some of the most wide ranging talent both nationally and internationally. By choosing UBC you are providing yourself with the opportunity to work alongside and learn from these individuals. During your time at UBC you will receive constant support and access to ongoing development opportunities in addition to being encouraged to explore your own capabilities. Those interested in joining the talent at UBC can apply directly into the Bachelor of Applied Science or can transfer into the program after completing first year Sciences.
Once you are here, you will be involved in intense classroom learning in addition to participating in high tech labs, which are designed to combine various engineering disciplines.
As you progress in your degree, more opportunities will be presented to you, such as the Engineering Co-op Program, Emerging Leaders Program, Engineers Without Borders and many more. Moreover, when you have completed your degree, you can begin to "give back" by joining the Engineering Mentoring Program. Graduates can also become volunteers for the Reading Week Projects, which are held during the duration of the reading week and involve community service projects teaching the essentials of science and engineering to elementary school students.
