Prof. Robert Schober

I am a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC. My research and teaching interests are in the broad area of wireless communications. My current research topics include cognitive radio, cooperative communication, network coding, ultra-wideband (UWB) signaling, MIMO, OFDM, coded modulation, free-space optics, and cross-layer design.

Attention:

I have several exciting projects for Master’s and PhD students in the area of  wireless communications. If you are interested, you may contact me provided you meet the following criteria:

  • Master’s students: In your Bachelor’s, you finished in the top 5 % of your class. If you have publications, this will strengthen your case.
  • Ph.D. students: In your Bachelor’s and Master’s, you finished in the top 5 % of your class and you have submitted IEEE conference/journal papers from your Master’s work.

I am also constantly looking for postdoctoral fellows. I expect applicants to have significant journal publications (3+ full IEEE journal papers) and I am mostly interested in applicants who qualify for one of the following or similar fellowship programs:
